Submit an Article

Email your submission to theecoinquirer@gmail.com. You will get a response within 72 hours.

Article Requirements:

  • Information that was not personally witnessed must be attributed.

  • Online sources should be hyperlinked within the article.

  • A headline

  • Please provide the following personal information:

    • Full name

    • Age

    • Email or phone number

    • Name of your city

    • Name of your school

  • Every Eco Inquirer article is accompanied by a photo that relates to the topic of the article. If you would like, you may submit a photo that you’ve taken with your article to be reviewed by The Eco Inquirer. If you do not, Eco Inquirer editors will find a photo for your article. Do not submit photos that are not your own.

General Submission Guidelines:

  • All submissions of writing and artwork will be considered for publication on TheEcoInquirer.blogspot.com

  • The Eco Inquirer has no deadlines. We accept submissions year-round. However, if you are sending work that is related to a specific event, please submit it at least one week ahead.

  • You must be 18 years old or younger to submit an article to The Eco Inquirer. Our publication is student-led and was created to provide a place for young environmentalists to publish their work.

  • Requesting anonymity. If, due to the personal nature of a piece, you don’t want your name published, please specify at the beginning of your submission. We will respect your request and not publish your name.

  • All materials submitted become the property of The Eco Inquirer. By submitting your work to us, you are giving The Eco Inquirer the non-exclusive right to publish your work in any format, including print, electronic, and online media. However, all individual contributors to The Eco Inquirer retain the right to submit their work for non-exclusive publication elsewhere, and you have our permission to do so.

  • All submissions must have an environmental focus. The mission of the Eco Inquirer is to promote the preservation of the environment.

  • We will not publish material that is:
    • Plagiarism
      • The Eco Inquirer has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. 
      • We check the originality of all published work through UniCheck.
    • Potentially libelous
      • Libel is a published false statement that is damaging to a person's reputation; written defamation.
      • Disagreement is acceptable, but you must be able to substantiate your claims.
    • Discriminatory on any grounds
      • Discrimination includes (but is not limited to) prejudice based on ability, age, culture, gender, religion, or sexual orientation.
    • Obscene
      • Articles that are profane and vulgar will not be published. 
    • Threatening
      • This includes (but is not limited to) bullying, harassment, intimidation, or personal attacks.
